Monday 13th and “Going Commando” at breakfast in Sligo – we bikers are real “hard core”…..😤😖

So I am learning when it comes to packing essentials for biking road trips. I’ve really only done day trips to date but I’ve thought about what the likes Norally of Itchy Boots and Leah on the Got2Go YouTube channels travel. They’ve never explained how much underwear they take and how they deal with it ha ha! Daniel Hayes the Million Dollar Bogan is more forthcoming – travel light!

I thought I was travelling light when I packed two extra T-shirts and three sets of underpants and socks but it turns out I went way OTT!! Hard core bikers like me do laundry and this was the reason I was at breakfast this morning dressed in a minimalist fashion (ready for anything 😜). My “smalls” we’re not quite dry and to think it was only me that knew 😀. I only needed one extra T-shirt too.

My camera setup

So the main objective today was to get to Westport where I will spend two nights. I hope to do a little run out tomorrow but I will mainly be planning the second half of the ride and organising hotels etc.

Just two Heavy showers this morning nothing else today thank goodness. The wind was still pretty strong although not as strong as it has been. I will never in my life see worse weather than I have witnessed over the last three days!

So from Sligo I followed the Wild Atlantic Way through Easky, Ballina and back out on the coast road again through the fearful sounding Killala to Ballycastle where I had lunch parked next to a BMW K1600 – French. They totally ignored me – I am delighted to say me 🤪😅. The little YB was an embarrassment – I laughed out loud!! They were certainly not “hard core” – all handbags and fashion leathers 🤣😆

Newport, Co Mayo

I’ve often said – “There are BMW riders. There are Harley riders. And there are real bikers”!!!

So I am now officially over half way round after riding over 900 miles since leaving home. Enjoying the challenge. Have met some lovely people.

126 miles today!
