Wednesday must be Canterbury…..

Started in London at 8am, then to Canterbury and the Cathedral, lunch on the White Cliffs of Dover, a stoll around the ancient Cinque Port of Rye, then on to Battle where the Battle of Hastings took place and ending the day in Brighton, known as “London-on-Sea” which is, indeed, the English “San Fransisco” !

As I write this I am indulging in Day’s superb Chinese Buffet in East Street, just off the Sea Front – in fact I am on fire with the chilli chicken !

Bracing myself for a 2nd day in the Capital…..!

Bracing myself for a 2nd day in the Capital…..will I make it through the day without contravening the plethora of driving and parking regulations, designed to fleece the motorist and add to the coffers of the inefficient and corrupt City of Westminster administration ??

Make a note of this hotel and give it a wide berth – the “Custom House”, near the Excel Exhibition Centre. People from Johannesburg may recognise the “colditz” style of architectural design? Let me assure you the immediate environs offer…..well…..you do the research – STAY INSIDE THE HOTEL !!

Up in the Smoke……

…..commonly known as “London” !

The first photo is of “The Shard” – the next big attraction in London, all 72 floors of it, making it the tallest building in Europe. The public viewing gallery which should be quite something, opens on 5th July 2012. The building is entirely clad with glass and is 310 metres (1,020 ft) tall.

The other more familiar photo is of St Paul’s Cathedral from Ludgate Hill.
