COTSWOLD WEATHER !

If you’d like a real three minute treat click here to see a short 3 minute BBC video of the “Autumn glory at Stourhead Gardens” – narrated by the Chief Gardener, Alan Power. The unexpected Indian summer might have delayed the start of the new Autumn season across much of the UK, but the colours are now changing in earnest from greens to golds.

(Sorry but the BBC site won’t allow me to embed the video onto my site so you have to click !!)

A simple trip to Heathrow Airport……?

Oh Dear !

Oh Dear !

.
…….a 4:30am start to pick up six people who had been flying all night from Hong Kong – arrived 5:30am…..picked them up at 7am!

Dropped them off at McDonalds while I go to another terminal to pick up the Mom flying in from Chicago…..landed 7.29am eventually appeared in the Arrivals Hall at 9:00am….nearly 90 mins after landing accompanied by a BA representative.

Her luggage was not on the plane with her.

She is going to a wedding !!!

They are pretty sure the luggage is on the next plane arriving in at 9:30am.

Return to McD….reunite Mom with kids from Philippines, enjoy a egg and bacon McMuffin meal with hash brown and coffee…..drop Mom back at terminal to try to recover baggage, take rest of the party to Sofitel for coffee and comfort while I park furtively hiding from the parking attendants while waiting to hear from the Mom.

Mom contacts me to say she is in possession of baggage.

Go back to terminal to pick her up. Return to hotel to find the rest of the party to take to the Cotswolds…..they disappeared so send out search party to find them. Load them into the van and deliver safely to Tetbury. All in a days work…..I’ve got another one like that tomorrow….Friday !

Todays its Autumn…..or just a hint of it before the rain and wind blow the leaves away! Just a few photos I took today within 4 miles of my home…..here in the beautiful Cotswolds !

All has remained green up until now….there is terrential wind and rain in SOuth Wales – only 40 mins drive away, so I thought I’d pop out and take a few photos before the Autumn colours are gone within just one day !

For those of you who know nothing of the game of Rugby….

…..it is a direct copy of the American “Football” game ! Actually…..the opposite is true ! American football though, is a game for girls while rugby is a game for men…..equally hard contact but with none of the padding and protection that participants of the American game “enjoy” ! Rugby Referees often turn a blind eye to the necessary “fisticuffs” that take place on the field of play!

Its interesting that while the isolation of Australia caused many unique and interesting species to develop, America has for some reason developed games that most of the rest of the world don’t understand although Americans think it is “we”….the rest of the world….that are different !!

Rugby is a game started in England and played across the world but not so prolific as real football – ie a game played with feet! In the Americas, Argentina is pre-eminent although Canada has a respectable team and the US were represented at the recent World Cup competition which ended in a final today, Sunday, when the hosts, New Zealand, narrowly beat France 8-7 in a tough game.

One of the more colourful traditions prior to the game for the South Pacific nations, New Zealand included, is a traditional Maori “haka” – essentially a “war dance” designed to intimidate their opponents. Usually the opposing team just hang around looking bored but this morning the French formed themselves into an arrow as a mark of defiance !

Watch this video….it only takes 2 minutes !
