Archive for December, 2010

I decided to add two more photos from my tour of the Cotswolds yesterday…..

Yesterday I had a party of Customers from Panama who had never seen the snow before! It was a misty day, the daylight was brief, but they seemed to have a great time touring the Cotswolds in winter !

I added these two photos today…..the first playing in the snow in Upper Slaughter. Don’t you just love the expression on the little girl’s face?? The second at one of my (personally) least favourite places – Bourton-on-the-Water which, I will concede, did look quite “Christmassy” yesterday!

Its the dead of winter…..and guess what…..?

……can you believe the old van is off out on a tour today? A group from Panama who have come to England in December because they “want to feel the cold”!!! Well its very grey and foggy out there…..they may well “feel” but they may not “see”!

Interestingly (perhaps?) the time and distance between the shot with the horses and the later one with the foggy / snowey road is about 10 mins / 5 miles !

These people from Panama who had never seen snow had so much fun !

If any of you are thinking of coming here out of season, its not always this foggy – tends to be there as a result of melting snow. The weather can be ok in winter but the main issue is daylight – you need to start early (8.30ish) to get a good day in as by 4.15pm the light has gone!

Did I ever mention “Bah Humbug” ??

…..me determined to look miserable enjoying the “Boxing Day” lunch ! (“Boxing Day” is the British name for the day after Christmas when traditionally the servants in the big houses were given their Christmas presents in boxes – of course they had to work serving the family on Christmas Day…..as indeed I did ha ha !)

Marmite !

I have a penchant for Marmite on toast – layed on thick. My wife gave me this extra strong marmite for Christmas……I gave her two tickets in the front row of the Strictly Come Dancing Tour (same as dancing with the stars!). She insists I mention I bought myself a camera !!

Oh well !!

I thought I’d share this touching comment from someone who reads my blog….. !!

I received this comment yesterday and thought I’d like to share it !

A very merry Christmas to you and yours! And thank you for the pictures and comments you post on your blog. They are a special, treasured gift we receive just about every day – not just at Christmas. Please do keep it up. The photo of you in the “Bah Humbug” cap with “Boring Old Fart” is most amusing – reminds me of me in a big way. Love the Tetbury photos too – your little corner of heaven, isn’t it? And most of all – thanks for the memories!!!!!

……………..makes it all worthwhile I guess ! Oh well more gluttony today….the feast goes on and on in England!
