Santorini – Oia, Saturday !

…..Oia (pronounced eye-aa) is the most prosperous town on the island. The streets are paved with marble and there are many jewellery stores and art galleries.

Santorini – Thursday

…..well if we MUST do some work, this spot on Santorini can’t be so bad?

Reverting to living in a cave….all these places were once traditional houses or stables !!

We went to the small town of Pygros, once the capital of the island. Still a lot of evidence of the earthquake in 1956. Apparently in Greece many of the “churches” are privately owned and usually locked up except for Saint’s days – if you build a “church” apparetly you are excused paying taxes to the government as well as utilities charges……ummmmmm I think someone needs to join the real world!

As the old country song goes “its five o’ clock somewhere…..4.50 is good enough for me to have a beer here in Kamari….just my kind of cocktail !

So…..nighty nite from Santorini !

Santorini – Wednesday

(Photos uploaded to 1969)

Day two of our “chill” on the Greek island of Santorini starts with breakfast although “chill” it is not exactly with the temperature at over 30C / 90F !

The rooms are like caves that go back into the rock – actually the walls of a volcanic crater that blew thousands of years ago alledgedly the site of the legendary “lost city of Atlantis” ! Fortunately the air-conditioning keeps the room tolerably cool!

This is a location where cruise ships visit…as you can see!

The bike is a 200mph Suzuki Hyabusa….why on an island with tiny roads and look….no protection !

Sat in a bar having a cold beer in an icesd glass of American standards (that I am happy drink in temps of 90+ but NOT of 0 degrees!) I can see the steeply winding cobbled street with its plethora of donkeys – I am hiundreds of yards away but their obnoxious affluvia permeates the stifling air…..! Will we risk walking among the donkey sh*t and p*ss?? Will I ride one? Do I mind smelling like a donkey for the rest of the day? I could say more but won’t be smutty!

A few photos of the black volcanic sand on Perissa beach + a photo to amuse Nicky Hughes back in Kentucky!!

Cotswolds again !

…..Snowshill Lavendar farm – they also have a nice cafe – a nice place to visit on a Cotswold Tour !

As you can see I returned to the venue where you can get an ice cream with that little “something else”! I know my Agent from Maine would love one of those! (The famous “orgasmic handmade ice cream” of Lower Slaughter!)

And as for the “police operation” are we talking muder hunt….drug bust? No parking violaters on this quiet country lane outside Chastleton Manor house….who cares !!

Let’s go and have a cuppa tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake in the churchyard!

Finally deer at Broadway Tower.
