RIP George H W Bush – the last bi-partisan President…..!
Former US President George HW Bush has died at the age of 94.
Recognised as the last truly bi-partisan President he was around at the end of the Cold War and quickly struck up coalitions when he had to deal with the unexpected attack by Iran on Kuwait.
Despite a contentious public relationship, President Donald Trump issued a statement praising the life and legacy of the former president’s passing Friday night: “Through his essential authenticity, disarming wit, and unwavering commitment to faith, family, and country, President Bush inspired generations of his fellow Americans to public service—to be, in his words, ‘a thousand points of light’ illuminating the greatness, hope, and opportunity of America to the world.”
President Bush is known to have had a close personal friendship with President Clinton who tweeted: “Hillary and I mourn the passing of President George H. W. Bush, and give thanks for his great long life of service, love and friendship. I am grateful for every minute I spent with him and will always hold our friendship as one of my life’s greatest gifts”.
Barrack Obama tweeted: “America has lost a patriot and humble servant in George Herbert Walker Bush. While our hearts are heavy today, they are also filled with gratitude. Our thoughts are with the entire Bush family tonight – and all who were inspired by George and Barbara’s example”.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences to the Bush Family.
