“Novichok” – the nerve agent that was used to attack our country…..

Novichok” was the Russian manufactured nerve agent that was used to attack the country town of Salisbury…..

Yesterday, our Prime Minister reported in Parliament that the delivery of this attack on our country was either a direct act of the Russian Government or, conceivably, they lost control of their stocks of this deadly poison. Prime Minister Theresa May has given the Russian Ambassador until midnight tonight to give a credible answer.

If the Russian Ambassador cannot or, more likely, will not offer an explanation…..then, when it comes to retaliation I’m afraid there is only one choice if we are to show the robust response our Prime Minister is threatening. Shut the embassy, send home all the staff including the “agents” that are making a nuisance of themselves in London, causing MI5 a nightmare trying to keep on top of them. Then freeze the assets and repatriate the dodgy ex-pats who come to London to gain a veneer of respectability and to launder their, often, ill gotten gains. We don’t need them here.

As far as the nonsense that is the “World Cup” due to be held in Russia this summer…..certainly it would be a shame for the players to be denied the chance to participate in what is the pinnacle of their international careers. However it would be wholly inappropriate to send any dignitary of any kind. The best option would be for NATO to recognise the attack on the UK as an attack on all and for all teams to be withdrawn from this “showcase” tournament in Russia.

Meanwhile, the appeasement shown yesterday in response to Theresa May’s speech by Jeremy Corbyn, leader of Her Majesty’s opposition and wannabe Prime Minister, was shocking. He favours friendly dialogue with Mr Putin rather like he enjoyed interacting with the likes of the IRA, Hamas and Hezbollah.

Finally it is nothing short of a shame that Russia sees the need to revert to the role where they are inevitably the World’s pariah. Years ago many of us hoped this huge country would develop into a successful outward looking culture but it seems not.
