South Devonshire – You don’t know what you’re missing…..!

South Devon – You don’t know what you’re missing…..! This is a photo of Dartmouth this morning.

I know I rant on about South Devon; in particular the area where I was born and bred around Dartmouth and The River Dart. But few Americans have any knowledge of the area…..most who succumb to my coercion to visit, say it was the highlight of their vacation!!

We had lunch at The Maltsters Arms in the tiny hamlet of Tuckenhay. My grandfather was born in this pub, kept by his parents. Imagine growing up here and then being plucked up by the Army at the age of 18 and three months later finding yourself in the middle of Pakistan in a WW1 fighting force. And four years later, after being charged by Turks on horseback wielding swords, he was “parachuted” back into this paradise!!

If you miss it you will have missed a gem!

Bow Creek and The Maltsters Arms where my Grandfather was born and bred…..

Yes Spring is coming even though it was bitter today – snowdrops and, yes, three daffodils!

For those who haven’t seen my “effort” of filming from a drone, check out this video of the beautiful River Dart and Dartmouth!
