Quite simply the British people voted to leave the European Union in June 2016.

We did not vote to make enemies in Europe – on the contrary. We anticipate a much warmer relationship when we are outside the organisation whose direction we have been at odds with for many years. The other members must have seen us as a thorn in their side.

We want to carry on trading with our friends in Europe as well as being supportive on matters such as crime, terrorism, military and intelligence cooperation.

But we did not vote to leave the European union “in name only”. Nobody voted for that. We voted to be in control of our own affairs because we think we know what is best for our country…..better than anyone else.

It follows we did not vote to remain in the “Single Market” or the “Customs Union” which would prevent us from doing the very thing we want to do – to make our own trade agreements. Neither do we wish to contribute into the European Union coffers or be bound by the European Court while having no say in drawing up EU legislation. This is the desperate hope of those who wish to “REMAIN”…..those who want to hang on to our ties with the EU even if we have zero power and influence.

The UK will not be imposing and tariffs on trade or borders when we leave the EU – any decision to do that will be in the hands of Brussels.

The decision has been made – lets just get on with it.
