When “I resign” is NOT a resignation…..?

We are all familiar with the recent plethora of resignations in the WH which means the individuals concerned jacked in their jobs and some gave their old employed “the finger”!

Indeed I worked in the public sector and I resigned after 20 years…..a big deal for me at the time…..and I gave the organisation I worked for TWO fingers – we always do more in the UK.

But a few days ago, amidst the row over the BBC paying more to men than they do to women, one of their top overseas journalists, Carrie Gracie spat out the dummy and resigned her post as the BBC’s top China Correspondent. They offered to bung her another forty five grand to keep her happy but she told them where to stick it. I remember thinking “good on ya girl…..you show ’em”…..respecting Ms Gracie for having the courage of her convictions and “putting her money where her mouth is”…..so to speak. The fluent Mandarin speaking Ms Gracie took the decision, apparently, when she discovered her male colleagues in the USA and Russia were being paid much more than her. She then appeared on rival networks, bad mouthing her “ex” employer and, I thought, she’ll soon be snapped up by the competition !

But no, the BBC is not her “ex” employer…..she is still in post. As I understand it she simply resigned her post in China and returned to the UK where she ripped in to her employer while still receiving her monthly salary and eating in the subsidised canteen. She has now popped up as a new presenter on the “Today Programme“!

For goodness sake woman if you’re gonna resign, do what Messrs Flynn, Spicer, Priebus, Scaramucci and Bannon did and LEAVE!!
