If its specifically “Thatched” Cottages you want to see, Cottages with thatched roofs are NOT typical of Cotswold architecture…..

The Cotswolds is all about STONE – gorgeous stone built cottages – hundreds of year old; stone roofs and stone walls. Quaint towns and villages all built for the same coloured local stone. Stunning countryside, beautiful gardens, getting off the beaten track where you will see few other people. That is what the Cotswolds is all about.

Many people visit The Cotswolds not knowing quite what to expect and sometimes say:

But where are the cottages with grass on the roofs ??”

If you are visiting the Cotswolds you may stumble across the occasional thatched cottage but if you’re looking for cottages with thatched roofs, specifically, then the Cotswolds is probably not for you.

There are plenty of areas not too far away if thatched cottages are particularly crucial to the enjoyment of your tour but we need to know about it ahead of time as it will change the route of the tour that we offer. The thatched cottages we can show you which again are NOT typical of Cotswold architecture are in Chipping Camden – just one street of opulent thatched homes and another street 60 miles south in a village called Sandy Lane.

But be assured we will do our best to give you the best out of your tour but tell us your “wish list” in advance !
